Like many expat living in South Africa, obtaining visas that allow us to work in our professional fields is almost impossible. Paradoxically for many of us who we are qualified and even married to South African citizen, we don't get permits. I am a fully qualified veterinarian doctor, but I cannot work in the country as such.
For that reason, last year we have decided to immigrate to South America to start a new future together with our dog Jack, a blind Boston Terrier, 12 years old, healthy, happy, active, and playful. Unfortunately, Covid-19 arrived in our lives with lockdowns and restrictions and thus our plans had to cancel.
As the current situation has not been improving, our immigration plan became a critical situation and is on the table again to finally carry out. Our trip has been programmed for June 2021. Sadly, due to global movement restrictions and flights conditions, Jack will not be able to make a relatively short and smooth journey anymore. Now he needs to be taken to Europe first, as there is no direct flight to South America anymore, which makes the trip long, tedious and much more expensive.
Sorrowfully, we find it very difficult for us to pay the amount of his trip, which has been quoted this year more than doubled from the last one.
Leaving Jack behind is certainly not an option, therefore it is for this reason that we are asking your collaboration to fund Jack's journey to his new home in Chile.
Please check Jack's Instagram page and send us any question that you think needs to be answered. We will ensure you'll get the reply as soon as possible.
