Izzy was born with a brain malformation. Her diagnoses:
Quadrapelegia Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Blepharospasm (eye fluttering), GERD (reflux), Severe Developmental Delay, Microcephaly (small head), Osteomalacia & Rickets (soft, fragile bones), Fanconi Syndrome and Renal Tubular Acidosis Type 2 (kidney problems).
Izzy can't talk, sit, crawl, walk, eat orally...... but she CAN feel, love, smile, laugh, and learn.
We are a family of 6. My dedicated husband stays home to watch her - she requires 24 hr care.
We are saving/raising money to go to The Family Hope Center in PA. They believe in helping children with disablities by going to the root of the problem - the BRAIN! THey don't believe in hiding the problem with medication. Izzy takes WAY TOO MUCH MEDICINE. Brains make new connections every day - they just need to be stimulated!! The Family Hope Center will evaluate her and come up with a comprehensive plan on how to help her. Then we bring her back 6-12 months to record the growth and re-evaluate her plan.

Update posted by Sandra Alvarez at 11:39 pmThe 2-day evaluation at The Family Hope Center costs $3450. We live in Arizona, the flight for 3 costs about $1200. The hotel about $360 for 3 days. We need to pay 1/2 of the conference now so they will hold our spot ------we reserved the first week of June!!!

Izzy has another UTI and back on antibiotics. This is her 3rd antibiotic in less than 2 months. One was for the flu. We are so. . . . .

For my strong hearted beautiful cousin who manages to put a smile on her face when it's not so easy to do. Family is family and our same blood runs through each other's body. Her determination to live life for what it's meant to be day by day not what's happening next week or month is something we can all learn by the smile she has.
