To Whom It May Concern,

Beginning the 17th June 2019, William Alex Kedler will spend four weeks volunteering on the International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) Kindergarten project in Livingstone, Zambia. IVHQ is a New Zealand based NGO that provides safe, affordable volunteering opportunities abroad. With the significant portion of children living under the poverty line in Zambia, many of these vulnerable children suffer from poor hygiene, inadequate education, insufficient food and little to no healthcare. Individualized attention and a focus on early development and education are crucial to breaking the cycle of poverty in Zambia. Volunteers on the Kindergarten project work in Kindergartens, nursery schools, pre-schools, and daycares. There is a huge emphasis on informal teaching – mainly English and Maths. Other tasks may include mentoring, helping with homework, preparing meals, cleaning, helping with the general running of the home center and interacting with the children through games, singing, dancing, sports, and arts and crafts.

In order to participate in this program, William has to pay fees of US$600, which will cover his accommodation, meals, orientation, program placement, volunteer support services, and placement supervision and administration costs of the program. Furthermore, William will have extra costs such as airfares to Zambia, in-country travel and vaccinations. Finally, many volunteers also find their impact is even more profound if they take some fundraised/donated money to invest in projects being undertaken by the local NGOs and communities with whom they are working. I have no doubt that from William’s qualifications and skills he will make an excellent volunteer. Any assistance that you can provide him with will be really appreciated. If you wish to discuss this matter further or have any questions I am more than happy to help.

Regards
