Hello! Thanks for checking on me about my goal to volunteer abroad for the first time. Through International Volunteer HQ (www.volunteerhq.org). , I've decided I want to go to Rome, Italy to help out those who need it. More specifically, I want to do Youth Support and sports education in Rome for 4 weeks starting this September 12.

As IVHQ states "Most children in Italy have access to school, but many lack the support needed to continue their studies and follow their passions or dreams. Even in developed cities like Rome, a lot of young people do not have access to after-school activities, support with homework or the means to simply enjoy their free time. This is common in urban areas where ethnic minorities are less integrated into the local community due to poverty or, sadly, social issues such as racism."

Many of these minority communities do not have access to learning the English language, due to poor education and economic resources. This leads to unequal opportunities for those coming from disadvantaged neighborhoods and can make it much harder for such demographics to go on and secure stable employment.

The Youth Support project in Rome gives volunteers the chance to help local NGOs in promoting diversified extra-curricular educational initiatives for underprivileged children and teenagers with a criminal background, with the aim of helping these young people gain access to better opportunities.

By volunteering with youth in Italy, I will help structure and support a calendar of activities in English, such as sport, theatre, projects with an environmental focus.

The amount I am striving for is $5,000- this is to cover the program fees and airfare and any left over money will be put to good use for those in need. Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

Thank You!!!
