This is extremely urgent and I don’t have a lot of time. I am on the verge of losing my apartment and becoming homeless and I don’t know what else to do. I have never been so scared in my life. I have a shop online on Facebook trying to sell things, but I haven’t been very successful. Myself, the Chicago Epilepsy Foundation and Threshholds of DuPage County, Illinois have reached out to numerous organizations on my behalf to not only seek financial benefits for myself, but ways to pay for my epilepsy medication. Unfortunately, I am disabled and cannot work and have been fighting disability for approximately three years. It’s bad enough that I am on the verge of being homeless and me and my service dog, Rico have no place to go. The stress is triggering my seizures but not being able to afford my medication to control my seizures is absolutely devastating and making this situation unbearable. I have not been able to pay rent for August or September. I was a paralegal for over 20 years and have always provided for myself and my children. Last June, July and August I was homeless and sleeping in a car that I could not drive. When I turned to the state for help I was informed that because I was not indigent, did not have a qualifying minor child that lives with me and I was not a refugee that they could provide no financial assistance except for food stamps and medical card. I am grateful for that help. However, I am again on the verge of being homeless and have absolutely no income therefore I cannot afford my medication or my rent. Please, I can’t be homeless again. I’m so scared .
