Our journey takes us to Sri Lanka where we will be using our strengths to help and educate those in need.
We are both currently studying for our A levels, in England. What urged us to take on this journey was the extreme issues that people all around the world are facing every day, and that most of us are oblivious to. Our involvement will offer the support, care and attention to those in need.
Our first plight will be to protect and conserve endangered sea turtles by volunteering at the local hatchery. In doing this, we will be playing a vital role in helping infant turtles with their early stages of life. We will be given the important role of guarding the hatchery from any predators and poachers, releasing baby turtles into the sea, daily beach cleans, education classes and visiting a traditional sanctuary. We will also be gathering essential research and data to try change how the industry is currently run in Sri Lanka and to try and seek to understand the underlying issues that are faced every day.
We will also be playing a crucial role in interacting with the children in a Sri Lankan school and also an orphanage. We are seeking to support their learning needs and development, improve their English and also the basic skills that are needed for everyday life.
Our involvement in the childcare sector will consist of providing care and attention to the children, organising fun activities, assisting with meal times and with the washing and cleaning, teaching basic English and life skills and also with health management.
We would both be extremely grateful if you would join aboard our journey by giving us a small donation. Your involvement will increase the impact on not only the young lives of the children attending the local school and those who are in the orphanage, but also for the sealife of the island as well.
