Island City Bakery

I plan to open a sandwich shop and bakery in Plainwell, MI but need a little help. My little shop will offer a small selection of sandwiches, soups, fresh baked bread, muffins and cookies that aren't normally found in your chain bakeries.

My goal is to raise enough for either a down payment on the vacant diner, remodel costs, or inventory. How much I raise will determine where it will be used.

Once open, I hope to employ two or three people. I hope to offer fresh baked bread beyond your traditional white and wheat breads, muffins, and cookies. This includes, but not limited to, banana bread/muffins, apple pie muffins, zucchini bread, oatmeal cookies with white chocolate chips, chocolate cookies with marshmallows and white chocolate chips, apple cookies, jalepeno and cheddar bread, and more. Sandwiches will include your traditional combinations along with some special ones that will be later determined by customers. All sandwiches will be available as a wrap as well. I also plan on offering a soup of the day and will offer some seasonal ones as well. Most sandwich shops offer you chips with your sandwich. I plan on taking that a little further and instead of potato chips, I plan on offering corn or tortilla chips with a small cup of fresh, homemade salsa. My salsa has been a huge hit at gatherings and I plan on offering three verisons of it: regular, spicy, and melon. The salsa will also be available to go and made from local produce whenever possible, never canned.

I plan to support local events and schools as well. I hope to have my decor to be college/school themed with flags from colleges in Michigan as well as Plainwell schools. I plan to offer special deals for the local high school's home games since the planned location is not far from the high school.

I plan to offer rewards for people who donate to help me realize my dream of having my own business. Most rewards will be for in person only. I can ship some breads, muffins, cookies and salsa.
