Isaac wants to study

In October 2014 a group of filmmakers from the Netherlands and the UK travelled to Ifakara in Tanzania. While filming and documenting the work of malaria researcher Bart Knols we received tremendous amount of help from a very hard working young man local to Ifakara: Isaac Valema. He had an incredibly open-minded and enthusiastic personality, soaking up the new knowledge and acquiring skills quickly while trying to help wherever possible. He made a great impression on the whole team and since then we have stayed in touch with him over the internet.

Isaac has great ambitions to become a professional filmmaker and he already proved great talent and a sense of fine craftsmanship in a short film he wrote, produced, directed, shot and edited all by himself in a self-taught manner. Now he has the opportunity to study for three years at one of Tanzania's few colleges that offer Film and Television Production as a course. The school is TaSUBa in Bagamoyo (www.tasuba.ac.tz)

We would like to support our tireless helper with donating towards the tuition fees for his course. The first year costs 1,585,000 TZS which equals around 650€ or £560 (at current exchange rates). The additional Euros are required to be collected in order to pay the fee for the crowdfunding site (4% + 2.9% on donations made via credit/debit cards) as well as a secure way of transferring the money to Tanzania directly into the account of TaSUBa college.

In consecutive years we aim to bind further support to Isaac achieving good results. We offer him the financial help as long as he fulfils the condition of succeeding in his course which I have no doubt he will.
