Our friend Isaac from Tanzania has reached the final 3rd year of the TaSUBa College in Bagamoyo studying Film and TV Production. This was made possible with the great help of several generous donations we collected in the past two years. Many thanks to everyone contributing to the previous fundraisers.

In the meantime, Isaac has broadened his scope, doing a month-long internship in Spring 2017 at a London-based production company that invited him over to the U.K. and covered his expenses. While he was here we met a number of times and he helped me out on the shoot of a music video that has already won several awards this year.
Isaac also travel to a film festival in Rwanda to meet other fellow filmmakers and present his work last year with the support of East Africa Arts by the British Council.

Isaac recently shot a documentary for the local University College in his hometown Ifakara. He also worked on a music video as part of a production team from England that was shooting in Tanzania. Although he is already getting some work, he is not making enough yet to pay for his college fees for the final year.

Therefore we are starting a final round of fundraising to provide Isaac with the possibility of finishing his course and receiving a Diploma (NTA 6) which would allow him to move on to pursue a degree at university. We said to continue the financial support to Isaac based on him achieving good results. The certificate of his 2nd year shows that he passed with a First.

We yet again would like to support Isaac with donating towards the tuition fees for his second year on the course. The costs for tuition and accommodation on campus come to 1,500,000 TZS which equals around 570€ or £510 (at current exchange rates). The additional amount is required for paying the fee for the crowdfunding site (4% + 2.9% on donations made via credit/debit cards) as well as a secure way of transferring the money to Tanzania directly into the account of TaSUBa college.

It would be fantastic if you decide to contribute some money to this cause but also feel free to share this little crowdfunding campaign with more people. Thanks for your generosity!

Background

In October 2014 a group of filmmakers travelled to Tanzania for shooting a public campaign about ground-breaking scientists all around the world. While shooting in a malaria research centre in Ifakara the team received tremendous amount of help by a very hard working young man local to the town, called Isaac Valema. He had an incredibly open-minded and enthusiastic personality, soaking up the new knowledge and acquiring skills quickly while trying to help wherever possible.

It is Isaac's goal to become a professional filmmaker and travel the world. Through crowdfunding campaigns two years ago as well as last year (https://assets.gogetfunding.com/isaac-wants-to-study/) we supported his endeavour to study at one of Tanzania's few film schools. The school is TaSUBa in Bagamoyo (www.tasuba.ac.tz) and Isaac has now successfully passed his second year.
