Iryu – Different Type of Playing Cards

We are Iryu, a recently created startup business that specialises in creating playing cards. Iryu comes from the Japanese word 'Iryūjon', which means illusions.

Playing card over the years have been used for many things; card tricks, cardistry and games like poker. You have traditional playing cards that are simple and used in games like poker and in card tricks. Then you have playing cards that are meant to be 'luxurious', playing cards that have unique designs that separates the rest. That's what this business is all about.

Our aim is simple; to creating a deck of cards that not only is aesthetically pleasing to look at, but has a story behind it. One great example is our current planned project called 'Project: Era'.

'Project: Era' is a big collection of playing cards that has one theme in common; the history and era of human civilization from the beginning of time to the current. The collection is split into series, with the first series that we've planned to be called 'Era I - Early Beginning'.

As the name suggests, Era I - Early Beginnings covers the start of civilization; with four main civilizations featured which include China, India, Greece and Rome. These playing cards are individually design, taking into account of the style and theme that each of these countries represent during the ancient times.

We are planning to sell the playing cards separately and as a 'Collectors Edition', which includes a box that contains the playing cards and a booklet explain the history of these amazing civilizations.

This is exciting, I know. But since we are a newly created startup business, we currently in need of funding to start our project off. Our current goal is £5,000 and will be used to pay our artists and our print company to print the playing cards.

Our plan is to make Era I playing cards start at £5.99 or US$7.99, with the Collectors Edition starting at £38.99 or US$51.99.

We currently have a reward system in place. Donating as little as US$7.99, the backer will be given a shout-out on our Twitter page and one of the playing cards from the Era I - Early Beginnings bundle. Donating as little as $55, the backer will not only be given a shout-out on our Twitter Page, but also receive the Collectors Edition and a Concept Book filled with early designs of the bundle.
