Keep these Irrigation Program running!

The ongoing drought and disappointing crops were the cause of this creative solution. In this way, Butterfly supports the local population in a sustainable manner by increasing their food supply.

The locals started with the support of the Butterfly Foundation to construct 2 fish ponds, but due of lack of water it was not possible to meantenance this fish ponds. The Foundation and the locals started to dig a well near the river and they found water. The local community have direct access to their own water source, now.

With this water we will do a lot in a proper way. We need to store the water in tanks, we need a good pump, and we needs pipes for transport the water to the new fish ponds.

The fish ponds will be a part of the irrigation program that the Butterfly Foundation will be developing. Apart of the pipes and the storage tanks, we will take care of drinking water and we will also be growing vegatables and spirulina, which will happen in small reservoirs.

You can help the Foundation and the local citizens with a donation to make this Irrigation Pilot Program in Kitui to a succes.

Its also possible to contact us by email in which way you want to donate.

Fish pond

Update posted by Butterfly4Volunteers at 03:00 pm

We started with a foundation for a spirulina tank in Ndundune. The Butterfly Foundation decided together with the local people that a fish pond is better to begin than to cultivate spirulina. They need to get a lot of knowledge for to grow spirulina and the knowledge of cultivate fish, they. . . . .
