The Organizing Committee for the International Student Week in Ilmenau, Germany has finally selected participants for the said event on May 29 to June 7, 2015. This year's theme is "dare to care". I am one of the selected participant out of more than 3000 application received by the organization. In this event, there will be several work groups that would tackle issues and possible resolutions with regard to the important concerns of the world. I chose EDUCATION.  Education is a right not a privilege. I am so fortunate that I was able to finish a BS degree in Nutrition and now, I’m on my last two years before I earn my Law degree. But what softens my heart is that every time I walk on the busy streets of Manila, and ride a public transportation, I saw these street children begging for food or money in order for them to survive. In my mind, these children should have been in school, but due to the lack, they were forced to ask strangers to give them some bucks. This is a common scenario in most, if not all, urban cities in the Philippines. This made me realize that I should have nothing to complain about. I have been enjoying the perks of being a student while these street children even how much they desire to go to school, they cannot. This is my motivation why I chose Education workshop. I dare to care for these street children. As the young generations are the hope of the nations, education shall be given priority especially to those less fortunate. Due to commercialism, educational institutions, even those owned by the State, becomes a proprietary in nature, which should not be the case. In this workshop, I believe, by presentation of the realities and struggles in the education and its system of the countries shall water the plant of ideas in the minds of every youth which may bring resolution to such problems. It may not be the solution for the totality of the circumstances, but definitely would be the start of changes that we are about to bring the world. By starting small, we can achieve big. I believe that these children are the hope of the nations because they are the next generations of leaders.  I am encouraging everyone to support my advocacy in uplifting the educational status of these street children through giving financial support on my participation in International Student Week in Ilmenau so that I will be their voice to the world, and they'll be heard. Thank you!
