Hello! Let me tell you my story. Ever since I can remember, I've had an intense passion for acting and the Performing Arts in general. Now, the time has come for me to pursue my dream! And there is nothing I would love more in this world than to study acting so I can work hard, become good at it and hopefully be able to make a career out of it.
I've thought about it a lot, and I KNOW this is the thing I want to do for the rest of my life. I've been involved in different types of art classes in my community when I was a kid (ballet, contemporary dancing and vocal training), but nothing made me feel the way I did when I started the theatre workshop at my local university.
Ever since then, I haven't been able to stop! I joined the theatre group and started participating in every production I could lay my hands on (I added some pictures of the productions I was a part of, although I do have to apologize for the quality, since most of them were taken by friends and then extracted from social media).
I've done big parts and small parts. I've sung and I've danced. I've made a fool of myself many times. But I don't regret a single second I spent in that workshop, since I finally was able to feel like I belonged and I found a family in the people I met there.
I've even participated in some local amateur shorts because.. well, why not?
I've been doing all this for 4 years, and I've come to the decision that The University of Arizona has the acting program that I believe would help me grow the most. There are only three problems: it's expensive, I'm broke and I'm not a US citizen. But not being one to give up on her aspirations so easily, I concocted a plan after many days of research (I will provide sources for everything discussed from here on out).
I may be a broke b*tch, but I know how to do my research. I'm currently a resident of the state of Sonora, and Sonora as it turns out, has a lot of relations with Arizona because they're sister regions. So it turns out, there is a program that sonoran residents may apply for in which, if they were to apply for a university in the state of Arizona, they are to be charged an in-state tuition fee instead of the larger and much more intimidating out-of-state tuition fee. (program website: http://www.sec.gob.mx/dgiai/?op=2&idp=5&id=26). (program explained in english: https://www.azmc.org/resources/student-tuition-program/). (UA validating agreement with Sonora for tuition fees: https://admissions.arizona.edu/cost-aid/international/scholarships-loans).
This means, that instead of paying for the estimated $51,707 USD total of out-of-state tuition a year, I would be allowed to pay $28,277 USD (tuition estimation: https://www.collegesimply.com/colleges/arizona/university-of-arizona/price/). Yay!
I've been selling baked goods in order to pay for the paperwork and documents needed to apply for UA (TOEFL, SAT, passport, etc.), but getting realistic, it won't get anywhere near to what I need for the actual tuition, even with all the help I previously discussed. Although my parents are unable to help me with this, I love them very very much, and they've done everything in their power to make me the best person I can be, who values art, science and education. They've raised me to believe I can be anything I want as long as I am committed to work hard on it, and I am 100% willing to do that.
This is why I'm starting this campaign. I want to apply to the BFA Theatre Acting program in The University of Arizona for fall of 2019, and I would like a little help to get started. I'm supposed to submit a form to the university proving that I can pay my tuition, which is why I am setting the bar for $40000 USD, but honestly, if I managed to get $10000 USD or less to have something to show to UA as proof that I'm good for it, and give me a chance to get into the program so I can then get an on-campus job, perhaps ask for international student loans or something to eventually gather the rest of the money, I would be eternally grateful.
Here are some more pictures :D
Sorry for blurring out some of my info, I'm kind of paranoid about putting too much of your personal information out on the internet. I am thankful for any and all contributions anybody wishes to make, from the bottom of my heart, since I know everybody has things to pay. Also sorry if this was long, but I wanted to provide as much information and evidence as I could to anybody reading this post and explain my plan as thoroughly as I could so you guys could know what I would do with it (if I got it) and where it would go.
