International Student Deligation on Nursing in China

I am a sophomore at Cincinnati State Technical Community College and have been nominated to represent the United States, my university and community as a member of the International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on June 4-17, 2013 in China.

ISLP nominates exceptional college and university students from around the country to this experiential educational program. This will be a powerful experience, enabling me to interact with many prominent men and women whom most of us only read about in the news.

Attending this program will challenge me to develop my leadership skills and reach my career goals of becoming a nurse anesthetist. I am majoring in nursing and plan to graduate in May of 2015. I maintain a 3.5 GPA, am involved in and was recently inducted into Phi Theta Kappa.

Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life changing experience when you were in college and were unable to participate for lack of funds. That is why I am writing to you today.

My participation in the Program depends on whether I can raise tuition and travel expenses. (The program tuition is $ 5,598.00 and my travel to the program will be $3,000.00) I am investing every dollar I can of my own money to make sure I don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime experience and am also taking on extra jobs to raise the funds I need. In addition, through my family, friends and neighbors, I have already raised $649.00.

That leaves me with a balance of $7,949.00 and I am hoping that you will consider assisting me with all or some of these costs. My tuition must be paid no later than April 19, 2013.
