International Space Settlement Design Competition

This fundraiser is to sponsor Princess Margaret Secondary School's 9 students' trip to Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center located in Houston, Texas for the finals of the International Space Settlement Design Competition held by NASA and Boeing. This will be a week-long trip out of which the students will be working on designing a self-sustained space settlement for two complete days and then presenting it to the judges from NASA and Boeing. The school is the only school chosen as finalist to represent Canada. This accomplishment has been achieved for three consecutive years. It is a testament to the student’s devotion and hard work. Unfortunately it has been difficult to attain sponsorship this time around due to the school's Parent Advisory Council not being able to fund the project again. The International Space Settlement Design Competition provides a platform to the youth's creativity and harnesses its potential to innovate for a better future for mankind. Students are able to work with other teams selected from around the work, have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit the space center and work with experienced NASA and Boeing engineers but also learn important life skills such as teamwork, time management, presentation and organization.
