Who I am

Hello. My name is Darice and I am the mother of two wonderful children. My oldest is a sophomore at a state university. My youngest at 13 is a homeschool student. For many years I held off on attending college to focus on caring for my son who has Autism and Tourette's Disorder but regret always lingered. At 37, I enrolled in community college and I have taken every opportunity to improve the lives of myself and my children through education. At times it becomes overwhelming but I hold steadfast for the reward at the end. I hold a 3.70 GPA, have made the Dean's list each semester, and I am also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

What I am Raising Money For

I have been selected to take part in the 2013 International Scholar Laureate Program (ISLP) Student Delegation on Diplomacy & International Relations in China. I was selected based on leadership skills and outstanding academic performance as a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to join other college students from around the world to engage in career-focused study detailing the history, profession, and global impact of diplomacy and international relations. We will also have the chance to hike along the Great Wall of China in Beijing, visit the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xi'an, and visit the metropolis of Shanghai.

How It Will Help

The International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Diplomacy & International Relations is an educational and culturally enriching experience that will undoubtedly enhance my academic profile and resume as well as add a wealth of knowledge to me personally and culturally.

I would like to offer my sincere gratitude in advance for your donation.
