International Museum

of Siddha Yoga Shivaprabhakara Swami Brahmananda

    We, the followers of Sanatana Dharma, with the blessing of our master Satguru Swami Vishnudevananda Giri, a disciple of Swami Brahmananda, for several years have been working to spread out the message of Swami Brahmananda about unity of all faiths around the world and to collect information about this unique holy man Siddha-Yoga Shivaprabhakara Swami Brahmananda. The goal of our volunteer work and seva (service to the benefit of the spiritual development of humanity) is to acquaint all seekers and lovers of Vedic culture all over the world with Swami Brahmananda through this project.

     In 2013 we established  the Swami Brahmananda Museum in Russia, and in August 2014 a decision was made to build the base museum in the place where Swami had lived for the last 30 years.

This project brings together different people and their cultures. Culture is the idea of unity, creative beauty, respect traditions, when people of different nationalities all together implement the common idea. It gives us an understanding that the Earth is our common home, and we have to preserve our traditions, our wisdom, our culture: everything are belong to all mankind out depending on in which country or continent we live.

 

The project will be futher developed:

• for body and soul:  creating a Yoga and Meditation Center (ashram);
• for health:  creating a Ayurvedic Clinic - Kerala state is famous for the heredited ayurvedic doctors;
• for genehal development: creating a Sanskrit & Hindi School and School of Art;
• for the development and exploration of the wisdom of the philosophical thought of India:  creating a Research University of the Philosophy of Advaita Vedanta.

About Swami Brahmananda

   Siddha Yoga Shivaprabhakara Swami Brahmananda was one of the greatest Siddha Yoga saints of the last century. His life is associated with many miraculous events that occured because of his yogic realization. Extremely rare fact of his longevity - he had lived for about 700 years.

    Swami Brahmananda met with prominent people of the past centuries such as Swami Vivekananda (the chief disciple of saint Ramakrishna), who in his famous speech at the Parlament of the World's Religions in Chicago in 1893 introduced Hinduism to the world and called on the world to the unity and harmony.

     Swami Brahmananda blessed world known holy Indian woman Amma who was presented with the Gandi-King Award for Non-violence at the UN headquarter in Geneva in 2012 and where she gave the keynote address at the comission "Global Peace Initiative of Women and Religious Leaders".

     Like many the saints in India, Swami Brahmananda's life was an example of mutual respect and tolerance.

     

The Principal Goals of the Museum

     In all five continents of the world there are devotees who adorably worship their Guru Swami Brahmananda. With the aim of bringing all devotees and followers together we are in process of building the International Museum of Swami Brahmananda.

The principal goals of the Museum are:

• to introduce all seekers and followers with Indian philosophy of Advaita;
• to spread out Yoga teaching and mediatation to increase human spirituality;
• to raise interfaith awarness and develop process of unity of world cultures and religions for  harmonization the world. 

 

Location of the Museum

      The Museum will be set up in the holy place of Swami Brahmananda's mahasamadhi in village Omallur, state Kerala, India. Today it is one of the most famous place of pilgrimage for many believers. It is believed that when the soul leaves the body of saint, his remains have healing power emitting favorable harmonizing vibrations for the soul and body.

According to the preliminary negotiation with Janardhan Nair, the President of "Sri Prabhakarasidha Paramhamsa Advaita Sidhasramam Trust", this premises is approved for registration as International Museum of Swami Brahmananda

Exposition of the Museum

     The Museum's display will present the relics of the Saint; ritual objects of everyday life used by the Saint; his manuscripts;  photographs and books about Swami; unique Kerala iconographic paintings; statues of deities of the ancient temples of Kerala; ancient manuscripts and text in Sanscrit and Hindi; the Vedas; the unique Nepalese carving adorn on the walls and the interior of the Museum.

Additionally, we plan to create:

• a unique carved wooden altar made by Nepalese and  Indian artisans
• sculptures of gods, saints, and heroes from myths and legends
• unique Kerala paintings depicting stories of the life of the gods, saints, and heroes from myths and legends. 

 

Opening Ceremony and Events

The opening of the Museum is planned for March 15th - 16th, 2015.  

We have invited guests of honor, instructors, and masters for the opening of the Museum and taking the holiday programs. Expected are: feeding the saints, saddhus, and all guests; the holding of a yoga tour of Swami Brahmananda's sites; daily yoga and meditation.

March 16th - 20th, 2015 - Yoga Tour: daily yoga classes and meditations, visits to Swami Brahmananda's place of birth and place of penance in the mountains; visits of disciples of Swami Brahmananda; visit to the ancient Parabrahma Temple, and many other events.

 March 18th - 20th, 2015 - celebration of Day of Saint Phenomenon within Yoga Tour, including a very beautiful ritual procession to the holy place of Swami Brahmananda's mahasamadhi.

March 22nd - 26th, 2015 - retreat-seminar on the ocean with Russian-speaking enlightened Master Swami Bishnudevananda Giri; yoga and meditation with monks-instructors in the tradition of Siddha Yoga; rest on the ocean.

• building materials and tools
• renovation of Swami Brahmananda's premises and payments for construction work
• carving a wood altar and interior design (furniture, frames, etc)
• building a temporary stage, canopy for conducting the program and meeting guests
• creating Kerala iconographic paintings and sculptures
• buying vintage sacred texts in Sanskrit and Hindi; publishing books and brochures
• video and photo materials; information support and media coverage
• invitaing guests of honor, masters, instructors for the opening and holiday programs
• the festive Museum opening ceremony
• holding a Yoga Tour with visits to the holy places of Swami Brahmananda and Parabrahma Temple; daily yoga and meditation classes; visiting disciples of Swami Brahmananda; and other events 
• conducting rituals: purchasing ritual items: fruit, flowers, sweets; payments for Brahmin rituals
• feeding the saints, sadhus, guests
• futher work on creating ashram.
