International Conference

Hi! I am Yrla Mey Santander and I am currently a budding researcher in the University of the Philippines. I mainly work on marine fisheries which I find very essential especially to our country's fisherfolks. I conducted a research on filter nets in Iloilo Strait which was mainly focused on the amount of catch gathered and the amount of profit earned by the people who employ filter nets. I submitted an abstract of this study to the International Fisheries Symposium which will be held on 18-21 November 2018 in Hatyai, Thailand. However, as a young researcher, I have no other sources of fund that can allow me to attend the said conference. This opportunity will not only help me in my personal career but it is also a venue that can provide us with insights on how to help alleviate the poverty especially in the small fisheries sector in the Philippines.
