Inspire Art: A Donation Drive for Art Supplies

HI! I'm Tarini, I'm a 16 year old student at UWCSEA, Singapore. I have been involved with the Parikrma Humanity Foundation for the last 3 years. The Parikrma Humanity Foundation is an NGO in Bangalore, India which aims to provide education for underprivileged children. Parikrma has been transforming education for the underserved since 2003 and were ranked India's No. 1 Social Impact school in 2019.

My involvement with Parikrma has been focussed on finding various ways of inspiring the students' passion for art. I noticed that these children were extremely enthusiastic about art, but were denied the oppurtunity to further explore their passion due to a lack of resources. In order to address this issue, I conducted an art workshop for the students, following which I created an online platform displaying the works produced by the children during this workshop. These paintings were sold in order to facilitate the development of art facilities at the school.

Currently, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the students have been working remotely. Parikrma has organised a donation drive for smartphones which the students can use to continue their education. Additionally, they have also set up a system where parents can come to the school and collect some basic materials as well as food rations. However, classes such as Art, have still been severely impacted due to a lack of resources. Art is crucial for these children to express themselves and relieve stress during this uncertain time. It will ensure that they continue to be creative and stay safe indoors.

All funds collected from this fundraiser will be used to buy art materials for the students so that they can continue nurturing their creativity and expressing their emotions. No donation is small and it will go a long way in inspiring the passion for art in children at Parikrma!
