I am Aruna Tirkey, a woman from Oraon indigenous community from Jharkhand province of India. Through this fundraiser, I am requesting support for expansion and strengthening of an indigenous food restaurant recently set up by me at Ranchi (Jharkhand, India). Itis not a singular restaurant. It is a mission to reclaim and strengthen tribal culture and identity through local food revival. I call this place Ajam Emba, which in my Kudukh laungage means 'great taste'. In addition to taste, indigenous food is known for its great nutritional and health benefits and therapeutic value. In the age of growing fast foods and its adverse impact on health, we aim to bring healthy alternatives. Key features of our initiative are as follows:
Since the restaurant set up, the response has been overwhelming. I need support to expand the restaurant capacity and outreach of my mission. As indigenous entrepreneur, sourcing support has been extremely challenging for me. I am requesting support of USD 14000 for two critical cost components (a) Meeting working capital requirements: USD 7000 (b) cirital assets to support improvement in food production to cater to the increasing demand.
