Independent Political News is an urgency in India

My decade long career with top brands in TV and online journalism in India, make me believe that there is no free and independent information source as far as Political News are concerned. As power and positions are at stake, the political parties and candidates use all kind of black money to influence flow of information in their favour. Influenced information flow and propaganda through news sources make the voters believe what is not true and they end up making wrong or ill informed decisions. I feel this is the greatest hurdle and cause of slow growth of democracy like India. We, a group of young journalists are planning to change things and want to develop an independent platform dedicated to news about elections in India.  As an experiment we spare time from our jobs and run a website for few days ( www.electionnewsindia.com ) and the response was huge. People really like independent news source but it requires money to keep such source alive and running. We will be able to make people to take a well informed decision in elections through our Independent journalism. It will eradicate the corruption and crime from politics and result into a faster growth of Indian democracy. We are $20000 short in startup investment, but once set up, we have strong plans to manage the funds to expand this news platform by public participation in news process. Our scope of coverage will only be electoral politics and its side effects. As a policy we will not take advertisements or funds from political parties or Individuals.
