Project Kybele is planned with a purpose to raise awareness to protect and maintain the Anatolian cultural and natural heritage and to create a consciousness in children to sustain and adopt this wealth as the successors of it. Within the scope of the project, which is contemplated by a team solely consisting of university students, 19 cities and 38 points of interest will be visited and the responsibility of the young population will be emphasized regarding the adoption of the substantial heritage on these lands. The points of visit will include: archaeological sites, archaeological excavation sites, eco-villages, national parks, museums, rural schools, nature schools, and NGOs and in the wake of the visits that will be made these places, it is intended to create collective opinion in the stated matters with the aid of institutions and organizations that will become the partners of the project. The project that will be carried out with regards to the protection of the natural and cultural environment included in the third wave of human rights will have largest sphere of influence in Turkey by reference to its aim to create a national network and dynamism. The activities to be performed as part of the action plan of the project will include:

  • ancestral seed trade,
  • art workshops for children,
  • recycling workshops,
  • theatre play for children,
  • handing out informative booklets in order to minimize the damages done to environment by agricultural activities,
  • painting events in rural schools,
  • photograph exhibition about Anatolia
  • interviews with archaeological excavation teams and eco-village executives, and
  • a documentary film.

Planned out to materialize within 2018, which was announced as the “Cultural Heritage Year’ by the European Union, Project Kybele will be the most comprehensive project that will come true in Turkey. To be realized as alternative for the events that will be held within the Cultural Heritage Year, in which Turkey did not attend as an official participant by its political status, the project is crucial in terms of affiliating with the international awareness and promoting our own values. The route plan that has been prepared meticulously by the project team includes the locations associated with the cult of Kybele, and, since there hasn’t been any route exercise before, it will be a reference for future touristic activities and cultural studies. One of the features of the project that make it unique is that no social responsibility project has been performed on a large scale in Turkey on cultural and natural heritage. One of the major part of the project is the documentary about Kybele. This documentary will be the most extensive documentation study filmed in Turkey for cultural and natural heritage under the main title of Kybele. The media sponsorship of Project Kybele, embracing many new grounds in it, is undertaken by Buğday Association and Arkeofili. The project will take place in the summer of 2018 given the fact that the adequate financial support is provided.
