Today would have been my buddy, Shannon Mercer's, 47th birthday. I think of him often and really want to do something to celebrate his life and help out his family who gave so much during his time of need.
When he lost his battle to Pancreatic Cancer late last year, his family was left with medical bills and funeral expenses and then, on top of all that, they lost their dear granny (who Shannon spoke of fondly and often) earlier this year.
I'm trying to raise $10,000 for Shannon's family. The money will primarily be used to offset the medical bills and other costs associated with Shannon's care and passing. A portion, however, will be put aside to make one of Shannon's dreams a reality. Before passing he expressed a desire to raise funds for a scholarship. His aunt is determined to make that happen for him and will be able to use some of this money to either create a new scholarship in Shannon's name or make a donation to an existing scholarship in Shannon's name.
If you'd like to do something in the memory of Shannon, I encourage you to donate to this fundraising campaign. Let's show our love for Shannon by helping his family and making his scholarship dream a reality. Let's do something big to remember him today.
Thank you in advance for any contribution you are able to make!
I plan to keep the campaign open for one month - through May 7, 2017.
