In Memory of Roberto Q. Mataverde

Our beloved Roberto Q. Mataverde joined our creator last Friday, February 25, at 10 pm. He spent his last 2 weeks at Commonwealth Hospital and Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

His wake will be held at St Peter Chapel, Quezon Avenue, 3rd floor, from March 4 to 6 (6am to 10pm). Online Zoom viewing will be available through this link - https://bit.ly/rqmwake. Daddy … Lolo to his apos … Tito to his siblings and relatives …. Bobby to his friends … and "Tatay" to many was the epitome of selfless and unconditional love. He will be leaving behind our Mom, Linda, his soulmate, best friend and wife for 52 years, to whom he was also a full-time carer. Their last anniversary was on Valentine's day, which they had to spend apart from each other since he was already in hospital.

Those who knew our dad would know that he was a very trusting and generous person. Unfortunately, during his last few years he had fallen victim to a health insurance scammer who had been laid off by the company for unethical behavior, but who still continued to get his money for payments.

Even during his recent admission, this person had continued to lie and steal from us, even pretending to increase Dad's coverage since he had to go into the ICU and the bill was growing exponentially. It was only upon Dad's death that we managed to find out about the scam, leaving us with an astronomical hospital bill and none of the promised insurance coverage.

To those who had the privilege of knowing our Dad and whose lives have, in one way or the other, been touched by his kindness and selfless acts, words of wisdom and his funny and sometimes corny jokes and wit, we humbly appeal to your generosity by donating to his medical and cremation expenses.
