In Memory of Kitty Lenz

Mrs. Kitty Lenz, Kurt's mom, passed away on June 17th, 2012 (view Obituary). A donation of books will be made to the Freeport Area Library, where Mrs. Lenz was a volunteer for many years.

When we mentioned the possibility of this donation to Kurt, he shared the following:

"Mom loved literature.  More specifically, she loved to teach children to read and to love books and learning as much as she did.  

One of the manifestations of mom's passion was the fact that she volunteered for many years at Freeport's public community library.  It is located in "downtown" Freeport, about 2 blocks from our church, and 1 block from the funeral home where she was laid to rest.  Many times when Ryan and I were little, she would take us with her when she went to work there as a volunteer; Ryan and I would sit on the floor of the Children's reading area and read (well, in theory, that's what we were supposed to do, anyway; I'm sure things frequently devolved into goofing off, rough housing, fighting, etc)."
