Campaign Story
My friend Jane Hings died 23-24 September.
As its been widely reported she had an awful and terrifying death that no one should ever have to go through.
She was 72 years old and had no family. I've set this page up to try and raise money to pay for her funeral costs. This is so we can give her the best send off that she deserves. It will obviously be some time before her body is released though.
She didn't deserve what happened to her, she lived alone with her beloved paddy and never troubled anyone. She had suffered greatly with mental health problems and recently pneumonia, but she had fought back, she just wanted to be at home with paddy. She was kind and caring and totally unique, she was mad as a hatter but one of the last things she said to me was 'who wants to be normal?'
If by some miracle we raise more than needed the remaining money will be donated to a mental health charity. And I may just get paddy some luxury treats.
For those that are interested in paddy, he is ok, he is still a bit jumpy and nervous but is settling in well. She made me promise to look after him if anything happened to her, I stuck to that promise, and paddy will be with me for the rest of his life.
I will update with funeral arrangements as and when.

Hi David Shocking story but for every bad person there are more like you who do so much good but don't make the headlines. Hope you manage to raise all the money you need and Paddy has a very happy life with you.

Jane was my friend and neighbour when I was a little girl. We weren't in touch for many years but I was shocked and saddened to hear that she had been subjected to such terrible trauma and lost her life in such an awful event. She was our crazy, cat loving, vodka drinking, Joe Cocker listening, mad-as-a-hat-stand friend. RIP.
