In Honor Of Nolan

My precious foster kitten Nolan came to me as an abandoned kitten at just 3 days old. I carefully cared for him, feeding him around the clock. He started to blossom into a happy, playful boy who loved to have his tummy scratched. On the evening on September 6, 2017 Nolan began to refuse food and gasp for air. We immediately rushed him to the 24 Emergency Vet clinic. The vet assessed him, telling us that it's not the symptoms that you would tend to see with an Upper Respiratory Infection and that he'd like to do some x-rays of his lungs. Sadly the x-rays showed a large black circle. The vet explained that this was his stomach full of air. He showed us the all white area where his lungs are. That area should also be black and full of air but instead it was white, indicating his lungs were full of fluid. He stated that he believed Nolan had congestive heart failure and that there was nothing they could do to help him. He said he was suffocating and suffering greatly. He recommended humane euthanasia. My husband and I are devastated at the loss of our sweet boy. We are raising money to offset his emergency medical costs (receipts posted here) and any remainder collected will be given to two organizations in his honor. We selected C5 as one beneficiary since we are volunteer trappers with this organization that works tirelessly to spay and neuter feral unowned cats on the street. We also selected The Kitten House in Houston since we know they are busy taking in kittens and cats after the devastating hurricane that just tore through there.
