Campaign Story
While I am not a beneficiary of YouthReach, my own mental health challenges in the past years have opened my eyes to what most of us actually understand of the term "mental health disorder". It is not just depression which we see in movies or read in novels but also include challenges such as anxiety, mood disorder, bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, eating disorder and etc.
While i reflected on my own journey in seeking professional help, it dawned to me that I've hardly heard about the importance of mental health back then in school - what more, the access to groups or platforms which each of us can turn to when life becomes more grey each day.
With that, mental health advocacy will be something I would want to take on personally moving forward. My wish is to be able to contribute and to champion for improved accessibility for youths - no one has to cry to sleep or feel like there is no way out forever.
To start small, I am calling you to join me by donating to YouthReach of Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) where youths aged 21 and below who faces emotional/psychological issues receive structured professional support through therapies, counselling and mentor-ship programmes.
I always believe we celebrate a person when we do birthday celebrations - if you wish to celebrate with me this March, we will celebrate access to support and mental health awareness through our donations.
Thank You
Jael
