Imunotherapy for a young mother of two

It’s been two years since my 30y/o wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. After breast removal surgery and 6 months of chemotherapy we were told that she is cancer free.

Unfortunatelly, we only had one year of peacefulness. After a visit at the doctor’s office and echoscopy we were told another devastating news – the cancer was back, this time occupying the liver. Surgeons were ready to remove the cancer but during the surgery they found out that there was not only one tumour – there were five of them.

With cancer metastasing and spreading to liver extreme headaches started. Everyone kept telling it’s only a stress and everything would go away after the treatment. Although the liver surgery was succesfull, the headaches only grew stronger and other symptoms such as weakness of the right arm and leg, impaired co-ordination occurred. This went on until Loreta wasn’t able to hold a pen anymore.

MRI showed that the cancer spread again… Brain this time. After undergoing the procedure of gama – knife to destroy the largest tumour doctors realised, that the are much more of them. The horrendous feeling of despair overwhelmed my family when doctors told us that our only hope isimunotherapy – the procedure which gives me wife 40 percent chances of survival. That is 100 percent more than doing other traditional treatmens and it means more than a number to us – this is hope, that our two sweet little daughters aged 5 and 7 will grow up with a mom.

The procedure of imunotherapy is very expensive and we will need to undergo more than one of these. The worst thing that our health system does not provide compensations and we have to pay for everything entirely by ourselves – which in our case is impossible.
