Campaign Story
The Imagineers robotics team of Hoerskool Waterkloof (Waterkloof Secondary School) in Pretoria, South Africa qualified to represent South Africa at the FLL Open European Championship in Aarhus, Denmark in May 2017. Our team consist of 6 members plus a coach and a mentor.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and the LEGO Group joined forces to create First Lego League (FLL). This programme engages children ages 10 - 16 in a fun way to discover and improve achievement in Science and Technology. The competition is running in 36 countries worldwide with 2000 teams participating
During the FLL season, teams are expected to do the following:
- Build and program a robot to complete a course within a limited time
- Do research on a specific topic to come up with an innovative solution to a problem. This year's challenge was Animal Allies. The IMAGINEERS build a device that is able to charge a cellphone through the use of a hamster wheel.
- Compile a technical report on strategy, programming and robot design.
- Display certain core values in correspondence with the FLL competition
