I’m donating my 40th Birthday

What would you do if your friends would give you 7000 Dollars on your birthday?

I've reached the 4th decade of my life. They say it's only after 40 that you start living. Before 40 you're only experimenting. :) There was a time when I was really afraid of this day. I believed fun in life was over after this point and being mature seemed to be the age when you assume responsibilities you don't want but you "have to". It seemed to be the age when life doesn't belong to you anymore...

Meanwhile I came to different understandings :) but maybe the most important one is that it's not everything about you! In fact it's the focusing on others part that gives you true joy and happiness.

With this thought in mind and with the old age knocking on my door :) I stumbled upon and I got really excited about this "Donating my birthday" concept.

What a better way to enter my 40s than making it a meaningful event? What more joy could I get than knowing that through my (actually yours) actions someone else's life may turn to a better direction?

That’s how I've teamed up with OvidiuRo Association and decided to give it a try. I'm not going for 7000 dollars but still I am hoping for a reaction. If only my closest friends would donate 9 EUR - my age in Romanian currency (40 lei), we would be raising around 2000 Dollars. And with those kind of money we could help!

OvidiuRo was founded by Mrs. Leslie Hawke, the mother of actor Ethan Hawke, and their mission is to “give Romanian children born into poverty a chance to eventually work their way out of the poverty cycle”. In other words they are aware that only by providing quality EARLY education to these kids they can break the cycle of poverty they are destined to live in.

Depending on the amounts raised, very specific actions will be taken towards the education needs of these children. A detailed report, with pictures and kids reactions will be provided afterwards!!
