Illinois VFW Holiday Children’s Gift Raiser

HELP THE ILLINOIS VFW BRANCH RAISE TOYS FOR OUR CHILDREN IN NEED!!

This holiday and Christmas season we are trying something new at the Illinois VFW, an online 'gift raiser'! Usually we host a physical toy drive and although those normally produce a great turn out for our children in need, we have more faith in the ability to raise money for toys online through a crowdfund! In this day and age when everyone is connected through social media, we think this is the right step forward in collecting as much as we can for the less fortunate children of our communities.
In the past we have been able to collect as many as 800 toys at our physical toy drives, however there are some problems with that model. We get a wide range of toys, from Dollar General type action figures to handheld video games to puzzles, etc. This makes it really difficult when we are gifting the children because some kids get really nice and fun toys and others naturally get jealous and causes more harm than good! We hate to see our good deeds turning in to in to any shade of negativity so this year, in an effort to stomp out the any chance of hurt feelings, we are going to by mass amounts of both similar boy and girl toys. Sounds like a good plan right?
Since we have been able to collect about 800 toys in previous toy drives, we have set our goal to provide 1,000 toys this year! We expect to pay on average about $7.50 per toy so we are attemptiong to raise $7500.
