Through investigation and first hand knowledge, we found out that an average Ilaje child goes to school barefooted; carrying his or her already tattered books on the head.

This is not unconnected with the increased level of poverty in the region due to years of government neglect. We also realised through interaction with some of these kids that they are interested in schooling but get discouraged because of lack of basic school needs.

IlajeSmile is a project aimed at providing school supplies such as school bags, sandals,water bottle,socks and stationeries to carefully selected indigent students in the Ilaje riverine area of Ondo State in Nigeria. The first phase of this campaign is to provide these kits to 500 primary school kids.
