So, you might have heard...
I AM REFEREEING AT THE MEN'S ROLLER DERBY WORLD CUP IN CALGARY, CANADA THIS JULY!!!
(I'm just a teeny little bit over-excited about this!)
I am absolutely smitten by this sport and anyone that gets a chance to talk to me will soon realise how passionate I am about it.
I was encouraged to apply for this, the biggest men's tournament yet, the Men's Roller Derby World Cup in Calgary! I never dreamt that I would be invited to fly over to Canada to officiate some of the top countries that are participating. This is a dream come true and now I have to find a way of getting there.
I am a skating official in the world of Roller Derby, a sport I have loved since I first started back in 2010 and it has become a family to me. It is my home away from home, my forte and my addiction, my escape and also very much my second profession (that unfortunately does not pay a salary....)
I've been active in this sport for over five years now and have tried to help as many skaters, officials and fans as I can along the way. I've officiated for quite a few of the best teams in Europe and have tirelessly travelled to some of the newest leagues too, to help their budding officials and skaters improve this sport that we all love.
Anyone who knows me will know I hate asking for money, but I simply cannot do this without you.
So what do I need?
I'll need funds to cover a few of the things, for me to actually make this amazing adventure become a reality:
Costs of return flights from London to Calgary are currently well over £850, £80 will go to a mandatory sports health Insurance cover and then accommodation will be well over £350. I anticipate food for the whole tournament and additional travel costs to be around about £150-200.
Please help a fellow zebra out by donating what you can to help get me to Canada (and back!).
