Ignite a Love for Reading with a Kindle Fire

I teach a special education resource program, and many of my students are emerging readers. One strategy that I have found to be helpful to increase fluency and comprehension, while also building a growing desire for independent reading, is to provide students with access to audio books. When I saw the latest price for the Kindle Fire, I realized that this would be the perfect purchase to meet the evolving educational needs of the students in my program. If my fundraising goal is met, I will be able to purchase 12 Kindle Fire devices, including tax and fees. Any extra funds will go to purchase protective cases, headphones, and any other accessories that will enhance the use and prolong the life of the devices. I will personally pre-load each device with ebooks, audiobooks, and educational apps, and then they will be sent home with students, many of whom are economically disadvantaged and do not have access to this kind of technology on a daily basis.
