Tienie Steyn – Road to Recovery

Medical Account for Tienie Steyn

As everyone is aware, Tienie Steyn was in a life threatening motorbike accident, near one of South Africa's iconic tourist attractions, Mac Mac Falls. Tienie plummeted down a 30 meter cliff. Unconscious, and severely injured, he had to wait for an air evacuation and had been transferred to Nelspruit Medi Clinic.

His injuries were critical and his parents immediately made the 10 hour journey from the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal to Nelspruit.

It is with the greatest sense of relief I can tell you that Tienie is on his long road to recovery, He has been discharged from hospital and is recuperating at home! The doctors have said that they have never seen a person fight so hard to first stay alive, to to fight for his recovery.

Tienie had been in hospital for over a month and his medical bills have just reached R750 000, and as you can imagine, there will be many more recuperation expenses that will still be coming in.

His parents, Rita and Fanie, and his wife Lizel simply do not have these types of funds. Tienie and L:izel are in the tourism industry and during this COVID lockdown, they have been unable to earn an income.

Rita and Fanie have given their life savings to the hospital and, and there is still a monumental financial short fall.

As you can imagine, this recovery process is going to be long, extremely difficult, with months of recuperation and therapy.
