Raising Funds for Farm Ibenstein

A blazing bushfire, which started on 4 August 2021, and burnt for five subsequent days, destroyed 70,000 hectares in the Dordabis region of Namibia.

Farm Ibenstein was hit the worst with 95% of the farm devastated and the wildlife left with no grazing at all.

To date no animal casualties has been recorded, but we are now forced to feed the game. Hopefully, with good rain, the grazing should be recovered within six months. In the interim we will have to feed approximately 1000 head of game which will cost us in the region of N$1 million for the six months.

The farm’s border fence was affected and needs to be restored, amounting to an additional N$155,000 in material, labour and general maintenance of the water pipes that melted during the blaze. The motor vehicles on the farm were affected badly with most tyres lost in the battle and one broken radiator. Repairs on this will be to the tune of N$ 55,000

The 2019 drought, which was the worst in recorded history, crippled the live-stock stud on the farm forcing us to sell many animals to survive as well as feed the remaining live-stock. This was followed by the 2020 Corona virus traveling restrictions, severely affecting the tourism to our farm.

We just do not have any reserve funds left to recover from the disastrous effects of the fire and as such resort to the goodwill of people who would still love to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the farm and the many species of game inhabiting it.
