Mick King and Sue Meader have started wearing pedometers, and hope by the 12th of October, to have walked 500 miles between them -  though as Sue uses a wheelchair and can't walk very far, it may not be an absolutely even split....

And Sharon Waddell, Luci Campling, Liz Peck, Pippa Thompson and Hayley Muteham are swimming 100 miles between them by the same date! For those of you who know Sharon and Luci, you'll know that's not very easy for them, either....

We're all doing this to raise money for Henry Sclater, Sue's great nephew and will present his parents with the money on the 12th of October at another fundraising venture for Henry, www.auctionforhenry.com.

Please keep checking our updates to see how we're doing!

In November 2012, aged only 8 months, Henry contracted meningococcal septicaemia, a very severe form of meningitis and was rushed to Great Ormond Street Hospital. The meningitis inflamed his brain and the septicaemia turned his whole body black.

As  his parents Lee and Stacey were told he might not survive, Henry was christened in the hospital, and Lee and Stacey obtained a special licence to marry there on the same day, as they wanted Henry to be at their wedding.

The surgeons at Great Ormond Street Hospital told his parents the only possible way to save Henry's life was to give him below knee and through amputations to both legs, and to the to the fingers on his right hand.

Henry did survive the long and skilled operation, thanks to the expertise of the surgeons.  During his 4 months in hospital, with his parents by his bedside, Henry also had several skin grafts and dialysis, as the blood posoning also damaged his kidneys.

Henry came home the day before his first Birthday, which was on the 21st of February 2013. He still has to have lots of medication, and visits hospital regularly for assessment and treatment and will face more operations and skin grafts as he grows.

Henry's a gorgeous little boy, with a wonderful nature and smile.

The money we raise will help with his future care costs, specialist equipment and prosthetics, the travels cost of regular hospital vists, and other essential expenses.

Please sponsor us to help Henry, whatever you give really will help x

( PS - we're not in Lakenheath, we're in Brandon, Suffolk. But the towns are in a dropdown menu, and like with facebook, Brandon isn't listed!!)
