Passionate appeal for assistance. I was scammed by an unsuspecting fraudster. When I was trying to be charitable.
My name is Joyce Ihenetu.
This is my story about a fraud done to me by one Valentine Obieze, his mother, his daughter Amanda and his son Kamsi.
On the 6th of March 2021, one Valentine Obieze sent me a friend request on Facebook which I accepted
On the 7th at 15:19 PM he sent me a message on messenger and asking me how I am doing. I replied that I am doing well. He said he is from Enugu and based in New York. I told him I am from orlu in Imo. He introduced himself as a pilot working with delta airline. He said his brother used to be a priest until he was killed by Boko haram in Borno and since then his mother has been feeling so sad no one calls her again "mama father"( Mother of a priest). I said to him I can understand her pains because my younger brother is also a priest and I know how my mom used to feel very proud when she is addressed as "mama father." I said to him tell her that someone cares about her pains. I asked him if he wants me to call her on phone he said yes. He sent me the number which I called the so-called mother. The woman was excited about my call. Now every day the woman calls me and said my daughter I want to know how you are doing. Meanwhile, Valentine said to me he told his mother that he has gotten a Catholic Rev. Sister who will be their family friend and daughter. Later on, I sent him my WhatsApp number which he used to send me pictures of his family. His mother, father, the daughter and the son, not knowing that these pictures were cloned. On asking about her wife, Valentine told me she separated with her wife 7 years on the grounds of marital infidelity. I pleaded with him to reconsider taking her wife back for the sake of their two children. Which he gladdenly accepted. And the presupposed mother was happy I was able to bring her daughter in-law back to her and reconciled her with her son. All these antiques i never suspected were within the plans of defrauding me.
On the 12th March 2021, Valentine called me and said he was taking passengers to Israel that I should be checking on the warfare of the mother and the children and also pray for them. The same day the so-called mother called me and said they went to buy a phone that has WhatsApp but the children are demanding a phone of N95,000(ninety-five thousand naira. I said you can get a phone of N20,000 that can WhatsApp. She said ok on Monday she will go and buy them the phone. Later the next day, Valentines called me that he has arrived in Israel and has told the mother to buy his children any kind of phone they are demanding when he comes back he will give her the money back. Early morning on the 13th March, 2021 at about 7a.m Nigerian time the so-called daughter called me and was crying inconsolably. She said they had an accident that the grandmother broke her head and the driver broke his leg. I demanded to speak with the doctor. They produced a doctor who is part of the plan who told me that the woman is on a life support machine and something needs to be done very fast and urgently. I told the doctor to give me the name of the hospital that I will send someone to come and see them. He said their visiting time is at 5 PM. The doctor said they have been trying to contact the son but to no avail. He told me to help them that as soon as the son comes back they can pay back just to save the life of the woman. He demanded a deposit of N285000 (two hundred and eighty-five thousand). I started running around begging people that my mom is sick and need to be saved. My brother went to deposit the money for them. Later they said they did an x-ray on her head and there are pieces of bottles inside her head that she will need surgery but the surgery will be done in Calabar that is where the specialist is. After some hours the doctor called me again and said the surgery will cost N1,013500( one million one hundred and thirty-five thousand)and that I should add some money so he can feed the children. Which at of sympathy and pity I got the money sent to him with the hope that when the son( Valentine) comes back he will repay so that all those who contributed money to save the life of a presupposed mother will be repaid.
However I called Valentine and told him the situation in his family and that the mother had an accident and hospitalised and that the doctors have started treatment on them pending when he returns back so as to pay those who supported me to save her so-called mother. Valentine started crying and was thanking me for the quick intervention.
The next day they called me again that they will go back to Enugu and there is the medicine they need to buy. The doctor said the drug will cost N138000 ( one hundred and thirty-eight thousand)and I was rushed again to find the money so they can start going back to Enugu. I was confused at this time. I told the doctor to give me the name of the hospital in Calabar and in Enugu. He gave me the name Deal hospital Calabar and St Edwin’s hospital Enugu. I checked it online but couldn’t find it. The next day they said they are now in Enugu and the woman was crying that the doctor should discharge her and becoming to her house to treat her. The doctor collected another N300,000 from me to discharge them home. Valentine called me that he has deposited $6000 for me in my brother’s account so that i could refund the money I got on his behalf
but the money will drop on the 18th. March,2021 , that it stays 48hours. He sent to .e a fabricated proof of deposit. Later on, he called that he has taken an available flight to come and see his mother. The next day the so-called mother called me crying that this son is not yet back and there is a number calling her.
She said I should call the number and find out if he is the one. I called the number and Valentine picked it and started crying that his goodness has put him into trouble. I was anxious and asked him what happened. He said his co-pilot gave him a laptop to give to his cousin not knowing that he stuffed the inside with drugs to set him up. He was crying and said they want to take him to court and they will jail him for 21 years and confiscate his properties.
He said they are charging him 4 million and that he has given them 2 million already. I called the so-called mother and told her the problem her son has at the airport. The woman was crying and begging me that his son has the money to pay back. I should please borrow them money that by the next day the son comes back immediately he will refund. I started running around again. The mother said she can bring N500000 ( five hundred thousand) and she had deposited it to the account given to her. I was moved with pity again to go and borrow N1.5m and pay into the account. After an hour Valentine called me that they have set him free. He told me tomorrow morning he is going to the bank to pay me.
At this point, I told him I want to see the mother on video. He called me on video a young woman with a wig was only waving hands. I said to him how can a woman I save her life just a while ago be wearing a wig on surgery and was only waving hand at me.
They quickly switched off the phone. I told him money he said he paid in hasn'tdroppedhe should please send the money let .e give back the donors. Valentine said he will go to the bank in the morning to pay it. I never heard from him again. His was how I knew that I have been scammed
With this situation I made an official petition to the Nigerian Economic Financial Crime Commission also know as EFCC.
This is a body that deals with financial crime in the country.
