I want to visit a friend whom I haven’t seen in years, but I can’t afford it

My friend moved to another country (United States) few years ago and hasn't been able to come back due to complicated process of obtaining working visa. Now I want to visit her since I finally have time, but I need money for the plane ticket and visa (she'd cover everything else once I get there). I tried to save money but the jobs I had just weren't paying enough (the economic sotuation in my home country is not that great).
