I want to make learning free.

Hello, my name is Damien Toh, and I have a dream of making this world a better place.

I'm starting on a project that provides free recorded lessons for needy students in Singapore. The education system in Singapore is highly competitive, and many of the students enroll in tuition classes if they can't keep up with the lesson pace or they want to have an edge over other students.

However, students that come from low-income groups cannot afford such lessons. While I was volunteering as a teacher and provided free tuition classes for students from low-income groups in my country, I have a glimpse of their backgrounds. I found out that their family does not have the financial capabilities pay for additional / enrichment classes even when their child could not keep up with the lesson pace in school. It's unfortunate to see how learning is limited for them even though they are very curious learners.

As a result, students from low-income family generally perform worst compared to their peers and are offered fewer opportunities in life, given that academic qualifications are highly regarded in my country. I want to bring in a solution - providing free recorded lessons that align with Singapore's syllabus and give them a platform to conduct self-directed learning.

I firmly believe that education should be a right for all and it gives us the power to achieve our dreams and make this world a better place. We can make this world a better place. Your donation - no matter how small - will be highly appreciated. :) We will use 90% of the funds to hire the best teachers (ex-school teachers) and conduct these lessons. The lessons will be recorded and hosted on YouTube and uploaded to a website built by us.
