I want my mom to give me away

My story

I've been with my childhood sweetheart, Paul, for 10 years after meeting in our local pub at 18. This year, on our anniversary, he finally got down on one knee in the middle of a wood to pop the question and I said yes!

Unfortunately, when I was 13, my dad was diagnosed with cancer and after months of treatment, he sadly passed away. I still ridiculously miss him so much and it kills me that he won't be there to give me away on my wedding day.

My mom is amazing and brought four of us up on her own. With my dad no longer here, I've always wanted her to give me away when I get married. However, just recently my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. At the moment, doctors seem confident that she will get through this which I'm immensely grateful for, but it has still shook my world and made me realise how precious life is.

I really want my mom to give me away at my wedding and give her something to look forward to during this tough time.

We are going to save as much as we can by doing our own flowers, cake, stationary etc but the biggest expense is the venue, which is what we are asking for your help with. There is a place in Warwickshire that I used to drive past with my dad when I was younger and he would say that I would get married there one day. I'd love this to become a reality, even if he is not here to see it. It would literally take us years to save so we would be eternally grateful if you would like to help make our dream come true.

I'm just a normal girl and I'm sure that many others are going through similar experiences. I'd like to send out my love to all those who have been affected by cancer (directly or indirectly) and encourage them to stay strong xxx
