“I want a mother too”

"I want a mother" is a project of the International Children's Fund Romania, which applies to children from the "Panait Sarbu" maternity hospital - Giulesti, sector 6, children at risk of maternal abandonment by mother (newborn) for various reasons can not take over the care and growth tasks of the newborn. By "child abandonment in maternity" we understand the mother's refusal to have any contact with her child, for various reasons: financial, lack of housing, relational problems with family members, or fear of mother's attachment to her own child. The project seeks to create a maternal and child affective relationship, a relationship based on maternal feelings after birth, a decrease in the number of abandoned children in the maternity ward, prevention of abandonment, counseling and financial help for child care and care. The aim of the project is to give the child the chance to develop harmoniously in the first months of life with his mother and family. THE TARGET GROUP: It represents future mothers in the "Panait Sarbu" maternity hospital - Giulesti in sector 6, as well as mothers who have babies with the age group of 0-6 months in the "Panait Sarbu" maternity - 10 couples (mother + newborn). The project is in accordance with Law no. 272/2004 on the protection and promotion of the rights of the child. The project provides child protection, protection that involves raising, caring and educating the child with his mother and family. Within the FICR there is the Social Assistance Department that coordinates the project to prevent abandonment in the maternity ward. This is a separate project, with its own budget, responsible for the project being the project coordinator. OBJECTIVES: The main objective of the project is the development of a project to prevent abandonment in maternity, support and parental education for the future mother in order to facilitate the proximity between the mother and the newborn. Specific objectives of the project: - Supporting the growth and development of newborn babies with their mother; - Post-natal counseling of the mother; - Integration into social life and acquiring parenting skills. - Financial support for a certain period of time for raising and caring for the child. The following activities are underway in the project: • Training to acquire parenting skills (ways of nurturing, raising and educating the child, first aid measures, the child's need for affectivity and positive relationship with him, etc.). • Monthly monitoring of each couple at their home • Mother's psycho-social counseling throughout the project enrollment • Monthly financial support throughout the project enrollment period • Offering donations consisting of clothes / food / toys / care products We need your support so that together we can help more children in the future, so to bring a smile on the face of children, satisfaction and joy in their sad heart.
