Campaign Story
Many of you know that I don't have a proper home, that I have moved from place to place for decades. Even in Israel, where I have lived for in the same city for almost 20 years, I have had too many addresses. And many bad apartments because I haven't been able to make the price leap.
My current building is going to be destroyed in December. My landlord agreed to let me out of my contract early so, rather than just sitting here and waiting, I started the search for a new place. And I found the place where I could be happy for ever so long, so I went to the landlord and said I wanted to leave . . . and then she reminded me that I have to find someone to take this apartment in my place.
Without going into details, I have to tell you that the apartment that I want to leave is not worth what I pay for it, despite its primo downtown location, and the chances of finding someone are small; before I lose the other apartment, tiny. This means that I am going to be stuck in this place until December, and my choices of decent housing are going to be drastically reduced.
Even if I lose the apartment I want and have to find another one, I am in the same situation.
I have searched all of my possibilities in the time I have to work with, and I figure the only way to save this situation is to raise the money to guarantee the rent here for the rest of the contract (five months) while I continue looking for a subletter to pay whatever s/he can.
I know that everyone is strained right now, and I am choking on my pride--especially because I have asked for money before--but please, I want a home, and the apartment that I want, could be it. Those of you not familiar with Israeli architecture might be bemused, but it has several pluses for me.
It will take a long time, but if you only want to loan me the money, I will find a way to pay it back; just make a notation.
Thank you for reading.
