I was dismissed from my job as senior teacher in December 2016. And I appealed the decision of the school board with the Tribunal established for teachers in January 2017. The Tribunal heard the matter on November 19, 2019. I was given their decision on March 30, 2020, where they upheld the decision of the school board to dismiss.
I have sought an attorney-at-law to review the matter. I have managed with the help of others to pay part of the retainer fee to the attorney with more than have remaining to review the documents of the case and supply me with her opinion on the prospect of success. She has done so even with more than half of the retainer fee still outstanding.
The attorney has expressed, in her legal opinion, that the case has merit that qualifies it for judicial review. I have decided to engage her in applying for leave for judicial review. This engagement is a different contract which has a different cost of which I now seek assistance. My union has decided to pay half of the retainer fee for this new engagement providing that they get the documents to prove that the judicial review process has begun.
I haven't given up hope, I still have some breaches left that lawyers have concurred can get me the justice I so desperately seek. You see, it is not just about getting my job back now, it is about stopping an unjust act from being perpetuated again without fear. This board has been unfair before, I'm not the only one they have injured like this. There is no one to help, but the court. Help me to fight them and show them up, so they will stop doing this to others. Help me get my job back. Help me to get justice.
