“I SAY NO: DRUGS, OBESITY AND VIOLENCE”

In 2013 the Tres Hermanos Foundation saw the raw reality of how our youth was dying to many social ills. Instead of just sitting back and saying:how sad, what can I do, we were determined to make a difference, we believe that one person who has faith and determination can change the world, and thus we envisioned and developed a program called I SAY NO TO DRUGS, OBESITY AND VIOLENCE, a program developed to give changing the world one child at a time.  OUR PROGRAM believes that every child is at great risk. Drugs and violence is taking the lives of many young people and Obesity will take the lives of those who survive.  We can make a difference, we dont teach our youth that DRUGS, OBSESITY AND VIOLENCE are bad, they know that already, we teach them to say know when the temptation comes.

 Our program utilizes the sports of swimming biking and running, to teach our youth, not how to become a great athlete but to become a leader; a contributing member of our society and most important a good family member. THF has found that today we put to much stress on athletics and truth be told many young people don not have the athletic ability to compete and participate so they quit, they go home and get into trouble, or play video games, eat and begin a life of depression and self destruction. In our program we teach that being good at a sport is great, but not being good is also great. What is important is not that they become a great athlete but that through triathlon (and instilling the love of exercise) they learn life skills that will make them live a happy and positive life.

 I SAY NOT TO DRUGS, OBESITY AND VIOLENCE teaches young people that the big win in life is finishing the race started, whatever that race might be. We teach them to show up on time, to come and participate every day, to take care of their bodies, to help their fellow athlete, to be respectful, to sacrifice, and work hard. We believe that if we are successful in passing these life critical skills on to this generation we can change the world one child a time.

 In less than one year the success has been spectacular, we now have over 150 young people enrolled who come every day, come rain or shine. However there is a long a hard journey ahead of us, as many of the kids in our program come from poor families, where having a pair of tennis shoes is just a privilege, this is why we are looking for PARTNERS, who realize that our youth is at risk and do not want to watch by the sidelines, but has the desire to participate and help us to provide these kids with the tools they need to keep them out of the streets to teach them how to say NO TO DRUGS OBESITY AND VIOLENCE.

 Where does your money go?

 The Tres Hermanos Foundation is a non-profit organization.  All donations go directly to impacting the lives of our youth. The THF pays for the salaries of the coaches who run the program and your money will buy shoes, goggles and all other equipment the children need. Furthermore, we also use the money we raise in a number of ways, including holding various events throughtout the year such as races, motivational and educational talks. We provide the funding for some of the athletes who do excell in the sport to go to competitions.
