I SAY NO: DRUGS, OBESITY AND VIOLENCE

Tres Hermanos Foundation has organized and developed in 2013 a program called I SAY NO: DRUGS, OBESITY AND VIOLENCE where through sports, triathlon specifically, we try to give an option of life to children and youth in Cozumel island, establishing participation scenarios, which not only delivers sports training but also providing role models to follow, not only as athletes but as human beings who children can find as an objective to replicate.

In this way and respecting the criterion of equal access for all children of Cozumel and using the momentum that triathlon has recently had on the island and around the world, started this new offer, which arose from a study of the demand and needs of Cozumel population, understanding, that exercise and sport are human rights and every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and is directly linked to the welfare and health of people, so this project is an statement with objectives as promotion of healthy living habits, prevention of sedentary, development of social and family relationships and finally the productive use of time off.

However there is a long a hard journey ahead of us, as many of the kids from Cozumel come from poor families, where having a pair of tennis shoes is just a privilege, this is why we are looking for contributors who can helps us to provide these kids with the tools they need to keep them out of the streets to teach them how to say NO: to drugs, obesity and violence.

Where does the money go?

Easy! Although Tres Hermanos Foundation is a non-profit organization officially registered on the US, it would be incredible to reach out more people who are passionate about sports and willing to give these kids the opportunity to break a cycle.

We use the money we raise in a number of ways, including holding events for the kids including talks and races, keeping the program running on daily basis and spreading the word about our program.

In the future we would like to take the same program to any place in the world where it could be used, that is why we have created a manual with our own guidelines to create spaces where kids can have these opportunities thru sports.
