I need Help to go home to see my Family

Hi, I’m Roselyn. I’m originally from the Philippines and I’m stuck in Bali as I can’t afford to go home.

Due to Corona virus, every country has put on lockdown that resulted to people lost their jobs, lost their main source of income and people get miserable being stuck in one place. But, COVID 19 also teaches us many lessons and give us a golden opportunity to spend more time with family. Unfortunately, I am not able to experience this because I’m currently stuck in Bali since March 19, 2020 and my family lives in the Philippines.

How I got stuck in Bali?

On February 2020, I went to Kuala Lumpur to visit my best friend and stayed for 3 weeks. However, Malaysia shutdown and my flight to Philippines was cancelled and the airlines until now did not refund my money. “They always say due to high volume the process will take 6 months or longer”. During that time, also Philippines already on lockdown and I need to get out of Malaysia due to visa run. So, I forced myself to fly to Bali Indonesia and one day after I got here, the country also shutdown and my flight to Philippines was cancelled and we are not allowed to go outside.

The government rules in Indonesia and Philippines changes every time. They locked down the country and open the borders and lock down again and I guess it’s the same in every country during this pandemic. However, I really needed to go home to Philippines and be with my parents because my dad is ill and very weak and having difficulty to get up out of his bed and he’s already talking about to my mom to prepare his funeral and it’s really breaks my heart. My dad is 80 year old and mom is 76. My mom have been calling me to go home because my dad is not getting better. And I will regret not seeing my dad before anything bad happens.

I called Philippine airlines to inquire flights and told me they will have limited flights this middle of March or next month from Jakarta. So I have to fly from Bali to Jakarta. And they reminded me that I have to follow safety health regulations and must complete travel requirements and quarantine. However, when I found out the flight ticket price and the requirements, unfortunately I cannot afford with the cost. The flight cost is too much higher than normal price( but this is also depends with the availability). I have to fly from Bali to Jakarta - Manila then fly to my hometown (3 different flights) and travel again by bus to reach my village where my parents home. I have to get tested in Indonesia and twice in Philippines ( before and after quarantine). I have to undergo 14 days quarantine in mandatory hotels listed by the Philippine government. And all of the cost is have to be on my own expenses. To be honest, I am not 100% sure how much exactly will cost due to flight fares changes most of the time and also for quarantine hotels as it still depends with the ability. So, I cannot give the exact amount but all I know for sure this will cost me a lot. Sadly, I cannot afford as I have been unemployed and my bank balance has been used up already during my stay. A week ago, I found a Job and it pays just to cover the basic cost of living and I'm happy because it helps however, I need to go home as possible as I can to see my dad before anything bad happens to him.

Unfortunately my parents cannot afford for the cost and can’t even afford to bring my dad to hospital. I came from a poor family in a small village in south of the Philippines. My brother and some of my sisters lost their jobs and their salary has been cut due to company cannot afford to pay them in full salary. My sisters are single mothers and struggling to feed their children. I had been growing up helping my parents and sisters to get out of poverty. Unfortunately, this time I can’t do much for them, all I can do is to go home and be with them during this tough times.

If everything is normal and that won’t cost this much to go home to Philippines, I don’t have to raise funds. This is my first time because my friend told me about it. That’s why I’m here, knocking in your heart asking help for any amount of donations so I can get home to be with my family and see my dad before anything bad happens.

NOTE: For whatever money have left after the costs of the flights, COVID tests, and quarantine hotel bills. The remaining donations will use to bring my dad to hospital and medecines.
