| I have been living in Ghana for five years. I assist the disabled and vulnerable population with my sole source of income, my social security check. I assist with medical, dental, and physical therapy needs. I supply funds for start up businesses and living expenses. I pay school fees, buy uniforms, shoes and school supplies. I have started and run a learning center for children 2- 15 years where I emphasize English skills and work with each pupil to achieve self worth. I am now having a medical problem that requires me to return to America for treatment. I do not have savingS because the need here. is great. I need to raise $7,000 that will cover transportation ( round trip) and living and medical expenses. My story: I was raised by parents that taught their children to help others in need. When I lived in America, I helped many people but I wanted to do more. When I was a young adult I began to have a recurrent dream: A young African disabled girl was sitting on the floor arms outstretched. In 2008 I had the opportunity to volunteer at an orphanage for eight months in Ghana. My second day there I saw a tiny girl named Esther.. She was disabled and sitting on the dirt.floor. When she saw me she raised her hands as if asking me to pick her up. I did so and instantly knew I had found my "calling" I returned to Ghana in 2010 to be around Esther. When I left, after eight months, I resolved to return to Ghana and help the disabled and vulnerable population. I have recently formed an NGO, "No More Neglect ", which will provide sustainable income to those disabled and vulnerable. I will also be educating students in disability awareness seminars. I have faced many challenges here. However my passion overshadows any challenges I face. I would appreciate your taking time to read my post and watch my video.
