“I Am Lyn”

On April 11, 2020 at 6AM I had Cerebral Hemorrhage. Due to NCOVID Pandemic, all ambulances where unavailable. Hospitals refused me due to NCOVID scare and hospitals were too full. I was able to reach Adventist Medical Center - Manila at 10AM, that is 49 Kilometers away. Without money, the hospital agreed to operate me at 2PM.

For 6 weeks while in COMA, I stayed at the Intensive Care Unit due to complications of Pneumonia. After waking up, I was transferred to Room 212 up to this day. Due to complications from Pneumonia, I could not breath that I could only breath with the use of BIPAP Ventilator Machine. Twice, my ventilator was cut to let me die naturally, but the good God won't let me die. So I am alive.

Yesterday, the hospital Billing Department showed my relatives my hospital bill amounting to more than $40,000 USD. The doctors informed them that I might stay in the hospital for another month to recuperate and it would cost up to $50,000 USD. I am a senior citizen and had been retired from work 5 years ago. My social service fund is enough for my food and medicines only but could not pay for my hospital fees.

My family solicited from politicians. Few local governments gave small amounts and the majority national politicians declined because I was hospitalized in a private hospital and not from a government hospital. During my emergency, private and government hospital declined to accept me due to NCOVID or either the hospital was too full. This was the only hospital that was available on that time, so I have no choice but to be brought in a private hospital that was available.

My husband is also retired, and had stroke 6 years ago. I have to children with their own families. Due to NCOVID, their work and business was forced to close and was affected seriously.
